Weight lifting & Insanity? Too much?

Alright, I'm almost 2 weeks into Insanity. I'm starting to hanker for some weight lifting. A 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off. Is it too much to do my Insanity, then right after that head to the gym?
Time constraints basically keep me from breaking it up to different time slots in the day.
Or should I just do the Insanity till I'm done, then get into the weight training? I don't want to overtrain, but I feel that I still have the energy for more.
Opinions?

Only you can know that, you know your body better than anyone here. Having said that, I'd probably at least do them on separate days. Especially depending on the intensity of your weight lifting.0

If you have the energy for it then why not!?
Definitely do more of a hybrid and alternate the workouts.0 -
I can't not lift heavy, meaning I HAVE to it's just to primal not to want to lift something heavy...just make sure you eat and take your vitamins and I would recommend glutamine as well at least0

Make sure you eat enough and get enough sleep. Oh and stay hydrated!
I have a teammate who does Insanity, then comes to two hours of footy training (full contact, lots of sprints and drills) and then sometimes does yoga at the end of the day.
If you have the energy and can give it your best shot, I'd say go for it.
Personally, I'd leave the cardio (insanity) for after the lifting though, because I'd hate to risk injury due to tired muscles.0 -

hmmm... I would have thought that cardio first would be better...time for more research I think0 -
I thought about this several times, but never actually tried it.
Keep in mind that Insanity has a follow up program called "The asylum" that does incorporate weight training.
If anything I'd say a good thing to do might be full upper body weight training workout 3 days a week, and do insanity workouts on the days between to replace cardio/legs.
An example would be Mon: weight training Tues: insanity Wed: weight training Thurs: insanity Fri: weight training. Only you know if you are over training, try it out!0 -

Different muscles, different days. Also I would make certain that my rest days matched up.0 -

Yeah, but I'm really hoping to keep to the Insanity schedule. Is there going to be weights needed next month for the Insanity? I hope not, I really don't want to buy more gym stuff.0 -

I see almost everyone doing cardio before weight training at the gym. There are two reason why I feel it is better to do cardio after weight training.
1.) I want to be able to put the majority of my energy into my weight training to get maximum results and muscle grow there.
2.) It makes my cardio more intense doing it in the latter.
If you want to "warm up" before weight training, that is great. I just feel that if you are wearing yourself down doing 30-45 minutes of cardio before you lift, you are probably cheating yourself greatly.0 -

A few little items, but nothing major. Heres some info on it: http://fitnessvortex.com/2011/04/14/insanity-the-asylum-workout-review-new-30-day-dvd-exercise-program-from-shaun-t-released/
Resistance bands or dumbells, maybe a chin up bar...etc. It should be similar to p90x stuff.
I may have confused your question. The insanity workout doesn't require any weights at all. The second month is more of the same type of exercises. Each workout will be about 15 minutes longer, and the intensity will go up about 25-30%.0 -
Combining a full body weight training program with Insanity is too much, yes, and will lead to your body not having sufficient rest to allow for muscle repair/recovery. However, you should supplement it with a weightlifting regimen that focuses specifically on the muscles in the back and biceps (the "pull" muscles) as Insanity does not effectively work these muscle groups.0

If you have the time, go for it. I did two a day practices in pretty much all the sports i played in school during preseason. Its not that its hard to do its hard to find the time to do it all. You could work out for hours if you wanted for the most part.0

Why would it be too much? If the person is fit I don't see why it would be so difficult.0 -

From the research I did cardio afterwards is best. I don't see a problem if you have the energy for it.0 -
Make sure you're taking enough supplements.0

Interesting, you have a fair point here. It's my arms right now that feel like poor cousins compared to my legs.0
