Sore leg?

Hi everyone
I have started running for the first time in my life about 2 weeks ago. I was doing fine, building up distance and then all of a sudden my right leg started to get really sore, not on the knee but just under it. I rested for a couple of days and decided to try again yesterday and now I can barely walk
I dont remember having one particular moment that my leg got hurt, it just gradually started and got worse.
What can I do to help it? I know I need to rest it up but I really dont want to stop running because I am scared of getting too lazy to start again.
Help!

Is it fine of a morning and get worse during the day if so could be compartment syndrome might want to get your doctor to check it out, this can be brought on by sudden increase of exercise you can also ice it or get a remedial massage0

It could be a lit of different things, I have trouble with my ITB & TFL & it presents as pain under my knee and down the sides. Mine's musculoskeletal but I have had some running coaching to make sure my running style isn't going to aggravate it. Once you find out what it is I'd suggest making sure your running style didn't cause it.0

That just about the worst clinical description of compartment syndrome I have ever read.
If you can barely walk see a doctor.
If you don't want to, rest and ice and elevation. A couple of days is not enough. But forcing a repeat injury can lead to not being able to run for weeks or months. So you can recover for a week or you can recover for 3 months. Your choice.I know I need to rest it up but I really dont want to stop running because I am scared of getting too lazy to start again.
Why do people that get injured refuse to allow the body to heal? One can work through soreness but real pain is like a red flag being waved in your face. "Hello, this is a no go."
To avoid injury also learn to stretch well AFTER running, mix exercises to balance agonist/antagonist muscle sets in the legs, get good shoes and build up slowly.0
