Taking measurements

MFP website says "Taking your measurements can be an even better gauge of your progress because when you burn fat and build heavier muscle, your weight may not change or even increase even though your body is tighter and smaller. We suggest taking your measurements every 2-4 weeks. "
I started doing this but got confused. Some measurements change a lot and I am not sure which are the best ones to take. I have lost 7llbs in six weeks and 4" off my waist but my bust hasn't changed at all. Actually taking the measurements is not easy and my partner is not exactly cooperative!!
Any advice on how and what measurements to take.
