I have a 4 and have never had a 7 so I can only give you my opinion on the FT4. For what I wanted it for, simply calculating calories burned based on my statistics, it's a great option. It gives you your heart rate, shows where it lies in a range and your total calories burned. It also has seconds for when it's running which I use for when I'm doing planks or some other timed exercise versus reps/sets. I've had it for nearly two years and have only replaced the batteries in the watch and band piece once each.0
