Yes, they do. But it's a very, very small change. About like drinking a cold drink. Even if you ate only spicy food and drank only iced beverages it wouldn't be enough to see a difference on the scale or in the mirror.0

This past year, I've just started putting it on everything too! I had never heard of the correlation between capsaisin and metabolism. But my personal experience is that when things get pretty spicy, I drink way more water to cool the burn (yes i know it doesn't really help) and then I get fuller much faster because of all the water. So in a round-about way, yeah i think it's helped my weight loss!0

Don't remember the study that it was or who did it, but I remember hearing that a university tested this myth. They said that these types of food DO increase the metabolism, but only until those foods are digested. It's not a long-term effect. So unless you put a jalapeno slice on every bite of everything you eat, I wouldn't count on this helping you loose weight.0
