Ultimate NSV - Death sentence was lifted...

Two months ago I had a skin cyst on my boob. It got infected - spread to the glad. Two rounds of antibiotics later, it wasn't better. Other symptoms came up and pointed to a rare form of cancer called Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) - 60 percent diagnosed die within 18 months of confirmed diagnosis. My PCP talked to me about IBC care, cancer treatment, referred me to a specialist and ordered the tests to conclusively figure out what was wrong. When I showed up for the tests to confirm if that was what was wrong with me, the diagnosis at the top of the page read: Inflammatory Breast Cancer, as if everyone knew it but me. My body went numb and I felt like I was falling into hell. I was told later, it was written on the page because that's what the tests were for.

Several doctor appointments, scans, x-rays, ultra sounds, etc. later... I was told this morning I DO NOT have Inflammatory Breast Cancer. While I still have to monitor my situation closely, I don't have the death sentence of 18 months to live.

For more than a month, I have been planning my last days but as of this morning, I was given a new hope for the future.

Now back to regularly tracking calories. :)

    OMG PuggleLover!

I am so glad to hear that you do not have cancer. What a burden you must have had and what a relief you must feel now. I am very glad that you will be my friend for more than 18 months!

I'm so glad that you don't have it and hope that you never do! What a wonderful reason to celebrate. I have a cousin who had it and although she did lose the battle eventually, she went into remission about 4 different times over many years before succumbing to breast cancer...it was certainly not 18 months.

Here's to many years of a very happy, healthy life!!!

So, now you've got a new lease on life, and a new perspective on it as well, I'm sure. :)

The nurse talked to me first about the results and said quickly... you are fine. I couldn't speak for a second and asked... the scans were clear of IBC? She said yes, you don't have cancer. I fell on the ground crying. I have never been so happily shocked in my life.
  • So happy for you! Isn't life much sweeter? And isn't worrying about being overweight a pleasure in comparison? :) I had the very same scare a year ago with the same result. I know exactly what you've gone through. Great news!
