A little perturbed about weight loss Journey!

Ok so I want to start with I don't mean to sound ungrateful but I am a little frustrated. I am loosing weight, but very slowly. I'm losing 6 lbs a month. I know a lose is a lose but it can be discouraging when you loose weight so slowly and you have so much to loose. My SW was 227, my CW is 203, & ultimate goal weight is 130.. But I will be very happy with 150.. With that said I still have 74 lbs to go to hit my ultimate weight. At the rate I'm loosing that is 11 months.. I eat with in my calorie goal to loose 2 lbs a week and I burn at least 600 to 700 calories a day with excersice. I eat back about 200 to 300 of my excersice calories to avoid over hunger. My Goal a day is 1200 and with excersice it becomes 1900 and I eat from 1250 to 1550. Low fat, low sugar foods. What can I do to loose at least 3 lbs a week?

Does it really matter how long it takes in the long run? The important thing is you learn to eat healthy food in moderate portions, exercise and make the necessary mental changes to do that. It took me 5 years to mentally make the changes so I could stay at 135. I lost 70 pounds. So what how long it takes. You want to be a doctor but you have how many years of school to go to? The child prodigy gets to start at 15 and takes half of the time. So what? The important thing is both learn everything they need to be a good doctor. Maybe a dumb analogy, but you want to have the weight stay gone, right? So do what you can to continually lose weight so it will stay gone. You can only do what your body will allow you to do. You'll get there!

If you are that dedicated to losing weight fast and keeping it off, I suggest you look into EAT TO LIVE by Dr. Joel Furhman. You can lose quickly by eating raw veggies. check out www.drfuhrman.com It's a healthy lifestyle choice. And it works. I only found it in my last 10 pounds but they were gone much more quickly than my first 10. It's an option.
  • Oh, my friend, I know how you feel. I get into such a tizzy because I want this fat to go away quickly. I also know - in my head - that it didn't get there in weeks so it ain't gonna come off in weeks. August found me only losing 3 pounds. July was 10. It isn't consistent for me - especially since I thought I moved more in August to use those calories.

Losing over a pound a week is really good. Remember that since it's a lifestyle change, you'll be doing this for a long time anyway. Who cares if it takes a couple more months to lose that weight since you didn't lose 3 pounds a week? You were going to be eating better and exercising anyway, right?

6 lbs a month is good! Any faster than that and you might end up with saggy skin anyway, so just be patient :) I lose about 6lbs a month and am so grateful for that, because, before my thyroid condition was properly managed I only lost about .25 a lb a week.

It's considered unhealthy to lose more than 2lbs per week. The recommended is 1lb per week. It takes however long that it takes. It's a lifestyle change. If you keep on doing what your doing and make it a part of your normal life you will not have to do this again because you are already doing it. This is my mantra... LOL

How quickly did you gain the weight? Were you skinny one day and then three months later you were overweight? Probably not, it probably was something that happened over a long period of time, in small increments that probably weren't even noticeable as they were adding the weight to your body.

Well, the weight loss is going to be a similar journey, though, still probably faster than the gain since you're working specifically on it. Personally, I'd be head over heels if I was losing six pounds a month. But these days I take the losses I can get and if that means .6 lbs, then I take it and I'm happy.

Weight loss isn't linear, even if you did start heading towards extremes and losing three pounds a week, that would most likely stop after a while anyway. Just keep doing what you're doing and let the weight come off at the pace it's going to come off. It's healthier that way in the long run and you'll end up happy once you reach your goal whether it take three months or if it takes a year. Just stick with it and remember the big picture of the rest of your life at a lower and healthier weight.

stop being ungrateful? I ate within my calories, exercised for 90 minutes 4 days a week, and it took me 3 MONTHS to lose 7 lbs.

I changed my diet, continued on with the exercise 4x a week, and my loss has slowed. I have only lost 22lbs since the beginning of May. Just recently I battled the same 2lbs for a MONTH.

ETA: I started out within a few pounds of where you did, I am currently a few pounds less than you are. I have been on this journey since February. I still have 54lbs to go, and at this rate it will be another 16 months before I hit goal!
