That was a mouthful! Whew! I woke up this week to the reality that even though I'm a vegetarian and only eat healthy foods, my weight increase isn't so much my hypothyroidism, but the fact that I lead a sedentary lifestyle and am eating the foods wrong. For instance, I use olive oil to cook, which is healthy, but only 3 tbsp of olive oil has as many calories as a meal. That's unreal!

My life is busy and a gym is out of the question because I was hurt in a semi/car accident a few months ago, but I'm trying to walk more and thanks to Fitness Pal, watch my caloric intake, proteins, etc.

Have to lose over 100 pounds to go back to my pre-children stage. Very important because once I receive my degree in Physics/Engineering I want to be able to get a great job and weight (thought it shouldn't) DOES make a difference in hiring.

Okay, 'nuff said. Grandmothers and crazy cat/dog ladies (like me) talk too much! LOL

Whew! Busy too, I bet. Good for you!
I am a long-time vegetarian semi-sedentary grandmother who follows Dr Fuhrman's Eat to Live program. Although he doesn't necessarily advocate vegetarianism, his eating plan is very well suited to vegetarians and vegans. And easy to follow. If you think this is for you, there is a group here named Eating to Live that you can join. You can read about ETL at www.drfuhrman.com or you can get his book "Eat to Live." I am also a Lifetime Weight Watchers member (have lost 50 lbs -- twice -- this way) but I find ETL even easier to follow. See what you think. Good luck on your journey.
