Help a newbie doing 30DS!

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new here and I'd like some advice. I've been logging in for the past two weeks on MFP and eating around 1200 calories a day, which I know some people say is too low. I only have about 20 pounds to lose but for me, these have always been a battle! I've been eating well for about 4 weeks though, and haven't even lost 2 whole pounds. I have done about 6 days of 30DS and a few days of a butt workout (Butt Bible), so I know I am gaining some muscle... is that why I'm not losing weight? I guess I should have done measurements beforehand, but I didn't.

So where do I go from here? Is my problem that I'm not eating enough or too much or something? I actually don't eat much food in general so I've been really satisfied at 1200 calories. Although I do want to lose sizes/inches, I do want to see my weight go down as well.

I am really enjoying seeing people's progress pics from 30DS and I hope to get great results, although I'm not a big fan of Jillian. haha.

You'll get all kinds of replies to this, but here's my advice:

    1. It's never to late to take measurements! Take yours now and start tracking progress that way. Take pictures too. I have some progress pictures that still blow my mind because in one of them I'm 130 and in the other I'm 131... and in the one where I'm 131 I'm clearly way leaner and smaller. Proof that the scale doesn't tell the whole story!
    2. When you start a new workout program your body tends to retain a lot of water for recovery, so that could be a reason you aren't seeing the scale move. It doesn't mean your body isn't changing. Again, start measurements and pics now!
    3. I do think you should be eating more. Go here: www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr and it will tell you your Basil Metabolic Rate (BMR). BMR is important because that's how many calories your body would burn if you were in a coma. Makes sense that you need to eat that many calories then, right? I'd up your calorie intake at least up to your BMR and possibly higher, and eat back your exercise calories.

    Good luck!
