Fiber

Can someone tell me what is the difference in fiber and insoluble fiber? I have to get a certain amount of fiber a day because I have diverticulosus. I count fiber in my daily count but not insoluble fiber. Should I?

Thanks for any help,

  • There are two types of fiber soluble and insoluble. The first is digested very slowly so it makes you fill full for a long time. The latter insoluble is not digested by the body and passes through the colon kind of cleaning it out taking stuff with it. It adds bulk to the stool.

Thank you very much for that. That makes it easy to understand.

Thanks a lot for the link. I read the article and it was very good. I eat a lot of fiber one products in my diet, I know I need to incorporate more natural fiber.
