Can Big Girls be Sexy Too?

So I'm 5'5" and my goal weight is in the lower 160's (Currently at about 213 - i've lost about 27 pounds so far). At that weight I wear about a size 12, depending on the brand, have about a DD cup, and altogether feel sexy and fabulous. I've been thinner than that and never liked it. No hate towards thin women what so ever - but personally it's not a look I like on myself.
My best friend is a fairly thin girl - wears between a 4 or 6, and wants to be quite a bit smaller than she is. Though I totally support her in her venture sometimes her self body image is off - like while shopping everything she pulls off the racks is a large, when a medium or or even small would fit just fine. Anyways, tonight while we were discussing women's bodies, I made the comment that people's view of fat, in general, has changed quite a bit. She had posted this photo on my facebook wall:

because she thought I'd like it (again, not condoning skinny-hate here - please dont be offended by the image or saying). What interested me most was the comment section where the majority of people were writing that there wasn't a single thick girl in the image. With the growing obesity problem, I think our ideas of "what's fat?" has changed. ANYWAYS, our conversation ended with her saying, "Honestly, I always just assume people are lying or trying to be nice when they say that's sexy. It's just fat."
What do y'all think? Is it so wrong I want to look like this:

Thoughts? Opinions? Questions? Comments? Snide Remarks?

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with either. As long as you are healthy and comfortable in your own skin, go for it! My goal is on the higher side of what I should because my hubby wants something to hold on to!0
