Hello There,
I would like to start a new thread about the new diet I am doing, The Mayo Diet (I know they did not really sponsored that one.) I tried this diet before about 8 years and I forgot about until recently. The reason I liked this diet is that you eat and you eat vegetables. I did lose weight I think about 20lbs I am not really sure I was not that over weight before. (Those blissful days) The diet states that you can lose 52lbs in 2.5 months…. I do not believe it actually does, I think that is too much too quickly.
You can adjust the meal to your taste I will be doing primarily fish, chicken, salads and lots of vegetables. For some odd reason meat is tasting funny to me, perhaps I am slowing becoming a vegetarian? LOL.
The diet states you have to be on it for 12 days then off for 2 days. I am staring on Monday and it will end on a Friday so I can have the weekend off for my off days. It says that you will lose 10lbs by then end of the 12 days; again I don’t think you will lose that much weight. Or maybe we will we could experiment. Oh, and You still have to exercise.
I would be great if I had a few buddies on this diet. I could email you the instructions and I am not going to weight myself I am going to take my measurements.
Wish me luck and after the 12 days if I lose I’ll start the next round of 12days.
Please no negative response I am trying something different, If it works great if it does not work then at least I did not starve myself and it would be eating healthier then what I have been doing lately junk food and fast food.

That's why I hate diets. Why would you go through all that work to lose weight, and then just gain it all back the first day that you can do what ever you want?
The key to losing weight and maintaining a good weight is a lifestyle change, not dieting. Losing weight is a matter of calories in vs calories out, ever single day. It's the tried and true method for weight loss/maintenance.0 -
Actually most professionals (especially body builders) recommend you have a refeed day every now and again. I would do it once a week when we would go out to eat and I steadily lost weight. When I stopped doing the refeed I stopped losing weight. Of course it could have been a coincidence. However, when I started do refeeds again I started losing. The problem I come to now is making sure I eat enough on my refeed days.
It sounds like the plan is good. Lean meats, a lot of veggies. Good luck.0 -
Ummm I would love to try this as long as the meals and calories are normal (ex not water with lemon and honey and molasses and cayenne pepper). Two weeks may be just enough to jump start my diet and weight loss. Do you have the details? I will do the weigh ins...no measuring tape and I think I would rather not know0
