when did YOU start taking supplements???

I was wondering if anyone out there is taking protein shakes for muscle gains,if so, how long after you hit your weight loss goal did you start taking it. Or if you were taking them while trying to lose weight,did they hold you back or have any negative effects.I am currently trying to get down to 190 lbs. and my plan is to pack on more muscle after i reach my goal. Im sure this topic has been brought up, but im just curious if anyone on here has similar goal as i do. Thanks!
