Protein Powders and Pregnancy Question

Let me first say that I did use the search field first and couldn't quite find the assurance I was looking for. Anyways my GF of 14 years is pregnant with our 2nd child, as we're about to complete the 1st trimester within this week.. My GF read up on some hot topics for nutrition and pregnancy and found out she should increase her regular protein intake from the 2nd trimester on out, especially for breakfast. She doesn't do powders but wants to get some after looking at smoothie recipes.

Here's our concern. Are there any types of protein powders that perhaps she should stay away from? Like brands or anything? The concern comes from that little warning sign on all the labels that reads "KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN"

This question really needs to be asked of your Obstetrician.
  • I would just watch and make sure that they don't have a ton of extra vitamins added to them. And watch the sugar/sodium intake. I use Body Fortress Whey Protein and it's low carb/low sugar and it's got no added vitamins. Pretty much just straight protein.

Agree, I would like to check with her Dr. On the next visit. Yeah I figure something simple and not to fancy. Mmmm maybe I can finally get her to agree on steak and eggs for breakfast every other day :P
