ON Gold Standard gave me the quickest muscle growth in the past. Muscletech came in second. Use creatine… get the 400 serving tub from ON as it is creapure, cheaper than anything else and good quality.

You are 146 lbs, you need to eat.

Protein powder is not really a weight gainer as it's fairly low in calories

    Nuts
    Milk
    Eggs
    Chicken
    Fish
    Veg
    Beef
    Sweet potato
    Rice

    Eat more of these

Workout out your maintenance calories and eat in a 300 or so calorie excess per day
    Lift weights
    Profit

This is the answer. There is nothing intrinsic with protein powder that facilitates weight gain. It is a supplement for helping to get enough protein in your diet for muscle recovery and development if you are training.

This, and I'd add regular potatoes. I think that list is in random order, but if we're prioritizing, red meat is at the top of the list and it's not even close.

Back when I was trying to gain, I would waste $100s on weight gainer supplements, but I started putting on solid, sustainable muscle mass when I left that crap alone and spent the money on steak, hamburgers, potatotes, and rice.

Bonus tip: Now that I'm trying to lose, I've replaced some of that stuff with protein powder. Do you see where I'm going with this?
