Bowflex vs. weights? Good routines?

My parents just bought a Bowflex, and although I am perfectly happy with my free weights I feel as if I should take advantage of the opportunity. I have just moved up to ten pound weights, and do a short routine of relatively basic exercises). I am currently looking through Bowflex exercises, but there are so many that I'm not sure where to begin.
My personal goals are to increase my upper body and core strength, but I try to balance it out with lower body exercises as well.. I have around 50 pounds to lose (10 already off before I joined MFP), but I'm more concerned with building muscle/strength and getting healthy, weight is a secondary thought to me.
Any opinions on the Bowflex, or any routines that you personally like? Should I stick to my weights and body weight exercises? Or mix up the two?
