A question answered.
Hello:
One of the things I keep hearing in my head is; "is it really worth it?" Part of this is due to me working in the nursing field, caring for the elderly. I mean, seriously; we grow old, we age, we become infirm, we die...*is* it really worth it to put ourselves thru *this* dieting, exercising, changing lifetime of patterns? Today, I got my answer.
I watched a 90+y/o woman bend over and put her hands flat on the floor. Over 90, I kid you not.
I do believe the answer is YES.

And you need validation for your deep philosophical enlightenment right?
Not to be a prick, but hell yeah it is worth it.
Great great granny wouldn't have made it to 90 if she weighed 290.
I don't know about anyone else, but I like the odds that by the time I am in my 60's or so there will be a serious way to stay "young" so to speak.
Nonetheless, awesome that you saw that!0 -

What I didn't write is; she is my size at least. Doesn't change the question or the answer or my admiration of her.0 -
I work in an orthopedic surgery hospital. All elective surgery. Most of the patients are overweight. Yep, it's worth it.0

I don't want to be looked at as yet another fat American riding around in an electric scooter or getting my knees replaced because I was so disgustingly fat that I can't walk around and I wore out my knees.
I don't want to be on medications to keep me healthy. Already OFF the cholesterol meds, closing in on being OFF the hypertension pills.
If my relationship status ever changes (married 27 yrs) I don't want to have to work for a year to make myself acceptable to re-join the dating pool.
I want to run a 10K faster than my 34 year old son-in-law
So, yeah, its all worth it.0 -
I agree with everything the others have said. Yes, it's worth it! It's the QUALITY of life that counts, and you can significantly improve this quality if you lose weight and try to live as healthy as possible. That doesn't mean you shouldn't have any fun at all (read: pig out) but just don't do it everyday. You live in the now, so why shouldn't you have the best life you can get?0
