Water Water and more Water

I either read or heard somewhere that while tracking your water consumption you can count any coffee or ice tea. Is that true or can you only count plain water?

As long as the tea or coffee is decaf you can count it as water. If you drink coffee or tea with caffeine in it, you should actually drink an extra glass of water. Stick with the decaf! :0) Hope this helps!

I believe in addition to decaf, it has to be unsweetened as well.

No Sugar, no caffeine?! Diets are so cruel! Still, keep thinking of the end goal...

I actually count regular iced tea and coffee as water (when I do track my water...I don't do it all the time). I did some research and you actually have to drink the equivalent of like, 10 cups of black tea or 5-6 cups of coffee to drink enough caffeine for it to have a diuretic effect. (See this site: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/caffeinated-drinks/AN01661 )

I don't drink sweetened tea, but if I add any sugar to my coffee (I only drink 1 cup a day, at most) I just add the sugar to my food log and then count a cup of water.
