I have had the worst time lately struggling with sugar. Namely chocolate. And wondering if there's anybody out there who would want to do the first 2 weeks of south beach with me to get rid of my cravings..............

I've had a lot of experience with South Beach and am an advocate of it, however, I will say that I'm not an advocate of it if you're doing it AND reducing calories. I've had great success with it, however, I truly believe that you have to do it for life and make sure you're getting those good carbs after the first 2 weeks of phase 1. Where I went wrong is I would not transition to phase 2 properly and would either stall or gain weight back. I also restricted my calories to 1200 on here and have totally wrecked my metabolism. I've actually gained 7 1bs in the last year! So... I won't be doing SB with you but I do think it's a great way to kick the sugar cravings if you have them. I'm reading all the 'eat more to lose weight' info on here and have recently upped my daily calories to 1600 and upped my strength training and lowered the cardio. I believe this is what I need to do to reset my metabolism and eat properly. The South Beach discussion forum is a great place for support if you go that route.1

Yeah I totally know what you mean---I always modify a little and usually eat 1 healthy carb a day the first week and 1 healthy carb and 1 fruit a day the 2nd week.....a little more phase 2 ish. These sugar binges I have been on are killing me!!!!!!! Usually do eat about 1500 cals a day.........lots of healthy proteins and veggies........0

I didn't have good luck with that, unfortunately. I did the first two weeks and dropped 16 pounds. As soon as I started re-introducing foods, the weight came back on FAST. So I gave it up. By the end of the 2nd week my cravings for carbs were starting to thin out a bit and I definitely didn't have much of a sweet tooth, but as soon as I could have strawberries again, all that went right out the window.
I'm on my own diet/exercise plan now and I must say, it's working just fine. The weight is coming off at a slow, steady pace and I feel better and better every day1 -
Yeah slow and steady is always better.
I have been the worst lately with treats and a very low carb diet for a few days gets me back on track and kick the insane cravings better than anything else I have tried. WAY TO GO on your slow and steady pace!! Sounds like it's working great for you! Congrats on being down 21 lbs! I am up 10 eating way too many treats........gotta get under control again.
