has anyone else considered medically monitored weight loss?

I am feeling very frustrated with my life today. I have been watching what I eat and exercising and keep gaining weight. I will lose about 5 pounds and then gain it right back. I do not know what else to do. Obesity runs in my family and I have had several close relatives choose to have gastric bypass surgery after failed diets. While they all lost tremendous amounts of weight, one aunt in particular told me that she is even more disappointed with her body now as she has tons of loose skin to deal with. I do not want to go down the road of surgery, but I also do not want to continue gaining weight. I just registered for an informational seminar on monitored weight loss (non surgical) and I wondered if anyone else has ever done this? I feel like I am running out of options. I am too young to be obese and unhappy.
