Cooking with whey powder: WHAT am I doing wrong?

I just made minicheesecakes. The batter was DELISH. Put it in the oven, baked accoring to directions, and there it was: the DISGUSTING taste of cooked protein powder. That taste, that texture...
I can drink it as shakes ALL DAY LONG. I can add it to oatmeal and LOVE it.
I used GNC AMP, 1 scoop only, in the batter. Am I doing something wrong or does heat just destroy whey in a terrible way?

You might try reducing the baking time, I've found whey bakes quickly and when it's overdone is very dry and tastes wrong.
Baking may denature the whey protein, I've never really looked it up before.0 -
try finding some refrigerator cheesecake receipes. Ones that don't need to be baked at all.0

Yeah, many cheesecake recipes only need a baked crust--making just the "filling" is easily done without baking. I wonder if you popped your batter into the fridge (or even freezer) for a few hours how it would turn out.0 -
Unbaked cheesecakes taste fake to me. Texture is off. Thanks for the suggestions though.0

1 scoop added to a cheesecake isn't going to be enough to make much of a difference nutritionally--I would omit it and stick to shakes. Alternatively make a no-bake cheesecake and you won't have that problem.
whoops--just saw that you don't want a no-bake .
So I'd say just leave it out. Even if it was 8 servings that's like an extra...what? 3 grams of protein? Not worth it really.0 -

Agreed. I've tried adding whey to a few things, and unless you are adding 100+g, the difference when you look at serving size is generally pretty insignificant.0 -
I cook with whey and rice protein a lot. You have to undercook it slightly and it will taste good in my experience0
