Question on the topic of Calisthenics

I just found out a couple of days ago what Calisthenics is. I understand we're talking push ups, sit ups, burpees, etc. So this morning I did 10 minutes of this after my run and MFP tells me that doing this at a light/moderate effort burns 35 calories after 10 minutes.
Then I played wii tennis after work which tells me that 30 minutes of wii tennis burns 121 calories.
I'm not believeing it - wii tennis for 30 minutes is hardly a work out compared to what I did this morning. If I'd done 30 minutes of push ups, sit ups, burpees this morning I'd have probably keeled over and died.

Should I be changing the calisthenics to the vigorous effort option, cos its a hell of a lot more vigorous than wii tennis.

Your opinion would be appreciated!!

  • I burn more calories with my wii dance workout than I do with 30DS.

My HR is up during my wii workout maybe a bit more? I dunno

Hi, short therm wise the wii tenis might burn some more cal's. But keep in mind "more muscles = more burn". So using calisthenics to build up your muscles will increase your daily fat burn:) And this is what you want isn't it?
