Anyone interested in starting Hal Higdon's Novice 5k Plan? I've done this and his 10k plan and really liked them both until I slipped on the ice and got the orders not to run for 6 month (Hello 35lb weight gain in 12 mo!). I'm starting tomorrow and if anyone wants to join in, please please do so! Even if you are starting (or in the middle of) a C25K plan or some other 5k plan, feel free to post!

You all can see the plan here: http://www.halhigdon.com/5K Training/5-Knovice.htm

Just curious, when doing this plan, is there a set speed you need to run / walk? I have been wanting to do something like this for a while now. I just don't know how to get started. I have just been walking on my treadmill, unsure of the results.lol I checked out this website and it looks like a really good schedule to follow.

Nope! This is a go at your own pace type of plan! You could do it as a walk, a run/walk or a straight up run. I'm definitely not winning any speed awards, but the first time I finished this I started at a 12-13min/mil and it wasn't long before I was running 28min 5ks. Nothing too spectacular, but a huge improvement for me and just really inspiring. I remember the 1st two weeks being really rough the first time I did it but the payoffs were amazing and I felt so accomplished after finishing it. It really jump-started a love for running for me and I jumped right into the 10k program and even as a large (220lb) girl, I still was able to run 6 miles non-stop by the end of it!! I can't say enough about this program!

Also, in case anyone is running outside - mapmyrun.com lets you map out runs in your neighborhood. An excellent tool
