Wii Fit Free Run

I have been using my Wii Fit to exercise since its a bit colder outside.

I feel like MFP is underestimating the number of calories burned for the free run. Is there really that much of a discrepency between jogging in place and jogging outside?

I could be wrong...just curious.

WiiFit is saying I ran 1.3 miles in 10 minutes which seems to be about right because I usually run 1.5 miles outside in about 12 minutes, but when I ran outside, I am near 220 calories burned where it saying just 70 for the WiiFit. Even Walking 2.5 moderate pace for 10 minutes is 52 calories.

Just confused is all.

You can compare it to a HRM which calculates calories. Also googling "jogging in place calories vs outside" yields a lot of info.

You really should get an HRM. Probably your outside running burn was overestimated by MFP. However, there is a big difference between running in place and running outside.

This. I wouldn't worry abt the HRM, but I can guarantee running in place is a much lower burn than running outside. As in, not even close.
