Hello everyone

To start the introductions, I'm a 34yo from Mexico. I started MFP in August, about 8*kilos ago (im currently 84*). I've been a lurker this last few weeks in the forums, but no more.

A little about myself and my story.

As a child I was skinny. People would even sometimes say I was *too* thin. I remained like that all the way through elementary, high school, and even college. I've never been really athletic, but when I was in college I did exercise regularly and even was in the Taekowndo team.

That all changed when I graduated and started working full time. I started as an IT consultant. That meant a lot of travel with paid expenses, staying at hotels and having all my meals at restaurants. I was specially fond of breakfast buffets. Two years of that (and me not watching what I ate and igrnoring the hotel gyms) and I gained 10* kilos. After that I just lost all interest in staying fit or watching what I put in my mouth. After eight more years of that I gained another 20* kilos.

It wasn't until a couple months ago that I finally decided to deal with the damage I was doing to myself. I'm not really sure what it was. It definitely was in a great part thanks to my wife and her encouragement. It also had something to do with my mother being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, me not being able to play tag with my daughters for more than 10 minutes and the realization that my wife wasn't finding me as atractive any more. In any case my wife and I decided to lose weight and get fit, something that doing together is great.

So far MFP has been a very useful tool in this lifestyle change. I know some people hate counting calories and keeping track of nutrients, but I find it educating. In the end it trains you on how to know and control what you eat. I also visit the boards frequently. The success stories are truly inspirational and there is always something to learn in the other forums.

Looking forward to reading and posting!
