Conflicting weight goals in household - any advice?

Hi all! My boyfriend needs to gain weight (in general, not just bulk up), as he is far too thin for his height. I, however, need to lose another 10-20lbs. This is becoming difficult to manage as we live together, and if we eat together it ends up not being good for one of us. Him eating double portions or something doesn't really work, because he just can't eat large amounts of food in one sitting. Me eating smaller amounts of the calorie-dense food he needs leaves me feeling hungry and I end up overeating. Any suggestions?

argh that's a tough one may I suggest cooking the same veg for each other, but you have lean grilled meat to go with it and he has more calorie dense accompanyment avacado, meat and potatoes cooked in large portions of olive oil, cheeses high cal dressing etc0

I would love to hear suggestions on this topic. I live in a house with 5 adults and 2 kids. Trying to eat healthy in our house is like fighting and uphill battle with one arm while trying to push a giant boulder with the other. lol0

I'd go with the same idea that animatorswear had. Do a very lean veggie stir-fry with supper, and put out olive oil to drizzle on it. You skip the olive oil, he pours it on (in reasonable quantities, of course, but enough to make a difference). You cook chicken, you eat the lean white meat and give him the darker, richer meats. If you do a rice pilaf, brown some almonds and other calorie-dense things to put in it, but add them after you take your portion out.
Make tortillas with both chicken and fattier red meats as possible fillers. You choose mostly chicken, he chooses mostly red meat.
You get the idea.
You're eating MOSTLY the same things, but you're adding calorie-dense throw-ins to his portion without the extra effort of making a whole second meal.0 -
Thanks everyone!! I like the suggestions of making the same basic meal, but with fattier or more calorie-dense add-ons for him that I can just skip. I'll have to get creative in the kitchen but I like to cook so that helps. I try to make sure we have low-fat salad dressings for me and regular for him, etc. but making tacos/burritos with both "light" and "heavy" filling options is a great idea. I could also get different cuts of meat for each of us to bake/broil/etc. or get full-fat cheese for him to top salads, pasta, and such with.
Thanks again!0
