Hi All

I'm trying to cut my body fat % down to 15%, I've got a set of scales that measure that and muscle etc, when is the best time to weigh myself, I find that I can weigh myself in a morning and then again at night and the % is different, about 1.5% normally, also if I weigh myself after working out would you expect the % to be higher or lower than say first thing in a morning?

Thanks

The owners manual should discuss this at length. The measurement is based on your level of hydration. Muscle carries more water and is more electrically conductive than fat.

The problem is if you do not follow the guidance in the manual you will have different hydration levels, which will affect the reading. The manual will tell you how long to wait between water intake/eating/exercise and measurement. Do it at a consistent time (such as right after waking and going to the bathroom).

All BF% tools are an approximation and the scales are not terribly accurate so don't get hung up on the number. Concern yourself with consistency and making that number go down.

For my money, I'd get a cheap set of calipers and concentrate on skinfold thickness decreasing.
