Is it ok to have one cheat day?

So today was my "cheat" day, I've been seriously watching what I've been eating for the first time in forever and sometimes I just can't handle it. I'm the only person in my house watching what I eat since the two people I live with (my grandma and younger brother) are both sticks anyway. I get frustrated sometimes that I have to take the time to make my food as well (I knowww that sounds soooo lazy) after years of just throwing things in the microwave. However, I have been managing ok despite, but today my aunts were coming over and my grandma told me the day before we were getting pizza.

Literally, I was thinking about that pizza the day before, and I just got done eating some. I didn't eat ALL day just because I know how much calories that crap has in it. Probably wasn't the best way to go about my day.. however, if I was to do a cheat day ONCE a week more healthy then this last time, would that be alright? I do want to eat better, but does that mean I have to cut off everything I've so loved? Like my nacho cheese.. ugh..

I want so badly to lose weight and I seriously cannot believe it is really this hard for me to kick out the bad foods, I feel like I'm a smoker trying to kick smoking, lol. I have back and forth emotions with foods to where sometimes I don't even want to eat, and then I have days where I want to eat everything in site. I just want to find a happy medium for Pete sake!

Go with a cheat meal instead of a whole day.

And really, life is too short to not have pizza and nachos. If you're that worried, eat less on the day before and after.

My sister and I have "binge days" where we order two small pizzas, sodas, and we go to town on them. it comes to about 2000 calories each, but it's terrible because that's all I'll eat that day. It happens and I feel like if it didn't, I'd go absolutely mad. So do what you have to in order to make the transition and when you get more comfortable, reduce your cheat days. We're going to make it to our goals

My trainer has given me a new diet to follow for 3 weeks (it's not healthy to keep it going for longer women), he follows this too. Basically 5 days of the week you have 3 meals a day of protein, green veg and beans. Day 6 is binge day and have to aim to eat between 5-6k calories. Day 7 is fast day and you consume a drink of BCAA's every 3 hours.

Seems very extreme but I'll give everything a go, the idea is that because we eat a low calorie diet the body adjusts and stops losing weight and therefore plateau (I know I've done this so many times in the past). Also something to do with resetting leptin levels to help jump start weight loss and metabolism.

Weigh in after week 1 was only 1lb lost (this was after 5-6 weeks of steady weight loss) but was seriously bloated and suffering water retention! Weigh in is tomorrow night as well as fat check (it started at 41% - 7 weeks ago)

So 1 cheat day every so often I can't see being a problem - if it means it helps to reset metabolism!

You can't deprive yourself all the time or it will be hard to stick with it. Everyone deserves to indulge every once in a while as long as it doesn't become a regular thing. :)

There's no getting away from the fact that taking good care of yourself (exercising, eating right etc) takes time. Try not to be resentful about it though cause it will fester away and one day you'll think 'stuff it, this is too much hard work'. I prepare a big salad, roast a bunch of veges/sweet potato in advance, have tinned fish, precook meat then freeze it. This ensures I don't spend huge amounts of time in the kitchen and can grab something quickly when I need it. Weekends tend to be way more casual and that's when I tend to eat lots of bread etc. This has been detrimental to my weight loss though so am trying hard to keep it all in perspective.

    Cheat meal not cheat day.

But once you're getting closer to your goall I'd suggest to cut it to like once a month or something, IMO.

Oh and if you do cheat one day when you "weren't supposed to." DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER IT. Move on. And start fresh when you finish.
