Help ! D:

I know this sounds stupid but I can't understand the measurements for keeping track of the food. :/
I've always had this issue ... for example, 1 g is more than 58 g right? :S
Is 1 oz more or less than 5.5oz ?

Separate the number and the unit (g/oz/cups)
    So 1 g (gram) weighs less than 58 g (grams)....quite a bit actually.
1 oz. is less than 5.5 oz. ...etc.
    ...if I understand you correctly.

Get a cheap little kitchen scale. Most can switch between grams and ounces.

I think you are confusing grams and kilograms and milligrams.... Grams are easy... 1 is less than 2 etc. That is a weight.

You will see milligrams (mg) mostly in liquids or mrdicines. Mg is less than a gram.

A kilogram is 1000 grams.... Equals 2.2 pounds.

One ounce is roughly 30 grams.

I'm Canadian -and partway through middle school we switched from imperial to metric, so I had to learn that stuff!

    Hope that helps.

You're only "dumb" if you don't ask the question so that you may understand. :)

Join the club. Being a 60s child in Canada meant learning imperial and metric.
I still think of certain measurements in imperial, and some in metric.
    I'm 5'-7" and 172 lbs.
I drive 200Km to the cottage, but buy pipe in 10 foot lengths.
How many kilometres to the gallon does your car get? :p
500 grams of meat or a pound? Don't care :D
Now throw in US vs. imperial and you get really messy.
    I make 23 litres of wine...that's 5 gallons (imp.)
If you make 19 litres of wine, that's 5 gallons (US).

Exactly! Weight/height of humans is always imperial in my mind, but distance and groceries can be metric. Go figure!
