Do you count vegetables?

Personally, I count it if it's significant, for the sake of accuracy. If something is a side dish or if somebody looked at my plate and could see it, I'll count it. Vegetables have calories (sometimes a lot). If I'm putting one slice of a tomato on a sandwich, um... it depends on my mood, I guess. I feel like if I walk up and down the stairs once more than normal by chance in a day, I will have burned off the wayward vegetable anyway, haha.
I don't think it's entirely bad idea to make raw vegetables free food. I'm sure the reason WW does that is because vegetables are probably the safest, lightest, healthiest bet for a snack or addition to a meal. It's nothing to feel guilty about or stress over excessively.
As far as everything I've read, calories count differently in body chemistry. You would look totally different if you ate 1500 calories of chocolate cake vs. 1500 calories of veggies in a day. And you would have less problems if you ate 1500 calories worth of vegetables, I imagine. They're diverse and nutritious.
If you don't want to count them, then don't, and see how it goes for a week or two. Experiment. There's not ONE right way to watch your diet and lose weight, you know. And there are far worse things you could try out than eating vegetables freely, seriously.
Just do be aware that there aren't really free foods. Particularly starchy veggies and heavily salted/sugary veggies aren't your friends in excess. That having been said, the other great thing about vegetables is that they're not artificially addictive at all, as far as I know. I have NEVER heard of somebody who was in the habit of eating vegetables and gained weight or had lots and lots of trouble losing weight.

I have a mainly vegetarian diet, if I didn't log veggies I could easily think I wasn't eating anywhere near enough cals as something like a vegetable curry can contain 300 cals but I wouldn't be logging it!0

count it ALL! veggies are still calories (not to mention sugar, carbs, etc) You're probably going over your 1200.0

You should try and count everything you eat and drink, however it does depend which nutrients you are tracking for your goals0

I don't count vegetables, except for potatoes, peas and sweet corn but I do log fruit. This encourages me to eat lots of veggies. However, I dont't eat back my exercise calories so this gives me leeway with the veg. Seems to be working for me so far..0 -

I am currently eating 1200 calories but I don't count the vegetables. Wondering if I should start counting. I just feel like vegetables should be consumed often and I shouldn't be concerned with their calories as much (I'm talking cherry tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms...). All in all, I'm taking the weight watchers approach (veggies = 0 points).
Does anyone else not count veggies? If so, are you succeeding in losing weight?

Sounds like you are picking the best of both worlds there. So you will only end up fooling yourself. Do one or the other.
Which is heavier? A tonne of coal, or a tonne of feathers?0 -
Just a thought, if you do start logging your veg, don't forget to reset your goal by about 200 extra calories. If you are losing doing it this way go with it x0

You should count everything...I even count my water. It doesn't have any calories but it helps me keep track of what I am doing. Veggies do have calories, most are low but they still have some.0

I understand what you are saying cuz I did ww too. But since I have joined myfitness I started having to count them. I love veggies so I dont mind having to add the calories up. I think you will see better results in the long run if you started counting them.0

Count it! A calorie is a calorie, over and over. Hell, an avocado is a veggie and the whole thing is usually over 250 calories.

If it crosses my lips....it gets logged. Keeps me accountable and also helps me keep track of my nutrition. So far it is working fine. 39.5 pounds in 85 days.0

I count EVERYTHING I put in my mouth.
With that being said, I really believe weight watchers works...so if they say veggies are 0 then keep going with that.
I remember back in the day when veggies counted as points, but then they said people were not eating enough during the day..so they made veggies 0 so people will eat them more and have more calorie intake.0 -
Are we going to get technical about whether somehting is a vegetable or a fruit? Cos you all know that tomatoes are botanically a fruit, though it would be foolish to put them in a fruit salad. As are many other items we know usually as "veggies".0

I log everything and weigh in grams. You will be shocked to see what your calorie count really is if you do this. I I reset my calories to a lower than suggested number to account for the calories I don't notice. For example the average 35 Kcal in the cooking oil spray (0 cal, my butt). Veggies add up quick. My pear was 150 cal the other day. big surprise.0

I would put them down, as you would be surprised on some of their numbers - my butternut squash had 24 carbs in it!!!!0

The WW approach sets aside calories in its formula to account for the "0 point" vegetables, so they actually are counted on WW.
However, if you're achieving your goals right now not counting the calories for vegetables, then don't count them. If you stall, reevaluate.0 -

I count all veggies. They do have calories and other nutritional information, ya know.
I understand you're following WW points, so I would suggest that you track all your calories including vegetables for a couple weeks, and then the next couple weeks just the WW points. That way you can see how they compare and work for you.
Or keep track simultaneously and see how they compare.
I count EVERYTHING, even the different drinks I have other then water. I drink Sobe Lifewater and diet soda once in awhile and count them when I do. They dont add anything but, I still count them. Veggies add a little bit so they should be counted.0 -
Not just for carbs, but if you are tracking your macros, at least for that sake you need to log. Say, if you aren't getting enough calcium or iron, you should know to compensate by taking a supplement. Also, if you have a tendency to be diabetic, for whatever reason, you have to be careful about eating certain veggies - carrots, beetroot etc. Good luck!0
