After lunch lethargy, why?

Ok so today I switched from my usual lunch of fresh fruits, yoghurt and museli to a can of tuna, some light mayo and wholemeal bread.

About an hour after having eaten it I have been hit by the most extreme lethargy. I know that this goes against what I mostly read about eating protein to avoid the after lunch slump in energy.

Just wonder if anyone can shed any light on the reason why?

I won't be doing it again, partly because of this lethargy but also because I missed and prefer my usual lunch of mostly fruit.

  • I asked this question a while ago, and someone told me that it could be your body using energy to digest the food... also I think your body is probably used to getting more sugar from your normal lunch of fruits and such, so that could also explain it a little. In the end, however, I'm no expert.

You could be right about the sugar, didn't think about that! Thanks.

I have the same problem no matter what I have for lunch.....So, when it strikes, I get up and do my exercises. That seems to make it go away and afterwards, I can go on with my daily routines, whatever that is.
