Sodium Levels...

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone knows about sodium levels while on a reduced calorie diet. I've read (and MFP sets the levels the same) that people are supposed to eat a maximum of 2500 mg of sodium per day. I assumed that that was based (like everything else in the nutrition world) on a 2,000 calorie diet. So, I went ahead and did the math and figured that if I'm eating 1450 calories per day, then I should stick to no more than 1800 mg of sodium per day. Depending on what I eat throughout the day, I go over my sodium "ceiling" of 1800 more often than I would like. Of course, when I eat less processed food I tend to eat less sodium.

So, I got to thinking, is it ok (healthy) to still eat up to 2500 mg of sodium even though I'm reducing my calorie intake? Is my body able to safely process up to 2500 mg per day regardless of my calorie intake? Anyone know that answer?
