I think your calorie intake is so low because you probably put in you wanted to lose weight in a shorter amount of time. I remember when I signed up, it asked me how much I want to loose and by what date. Then it allowed me 1450 calories a day.
I didnt put in a date that I wanted to lose by, it didnt ask? But they ask how much I want to lose a week, so I selected 1lb because thats what they had recommended for me.0 -
It is generally discouraged to eat below your BMR for extended periods of time. What did you set your weight loss goal to?
Extended periods of hypocaloric dietary habits have severe metabolic and hormonal disruption. Lesson learned the hard way.
The exceptions to my original statement are people who are obese which the OP is not. They can handle a much larger deficit.
To the OP, if you only have to lose what you ticker says you do, 1 pound a week to start would be ok, but by the time you lose 5 more pounds, you would be much better served by switching to half a pound a week as your goal. The reason for that is your body can only use so much fat a day for energy. That amount changes, and basically if you have less fat, your body can only use a smaller amount. If your weight loss goal is creating a deficit that is larger than the amount of fat your body is able to oxidize per day it will take from other sources to provide that energy, most likely that source would be muscle which would further decrease your metabolism. The long and short of it is go a few weeks at this level, then drop your goal to half a pound per week
BTW, the recommendation of 1 pound per week is not connected to you as an individual, it is just a general recommendation.0 -

Well, I read this: The only way to lose weight from body fat is to create a calorie deficit, which means you eat fewer calories than you expend, or burn. To lose 1 lb. of body fat, you need to have a calorie deficit of about 3,500 calories. This means that your calorie deficit needs to average 500 to 1,000 calories per day if you want to 1 to 2 lbs. per week.
