In need of inspiration

So I've come to realize that it's not information I need on how to get healthy, it's the inspiration and motivation to just do it. In fact, instead of always looking for that next best workout, maybe I should just do the dozens I already have. I am at a perfect time in my life to become the healthiest me I can be. I have time now; my daughter is 3 and before we know it she'll be in school and doing all sorts of other activities to keep us busy. I wish I could wake up in the morning and make healthy decisions more consistently.

What are your sources for inspiration? Any little motivational tidbits that have helped you get going? How do you keep on track every day?

i don't keep on track every day, i mes sup too just like everyone else as that is part of life... no one is perfect. for me was just to be healthy and live my life everyday as happy as i can be. what kept me goign was when i finally was starting to see results on the scale and in clothing sizes... it took a long time and the loss has been super slow but i knew if i stuck with it, it woudl finally come off.. and it has! I loved the feeling buying new clothes, there is nothing like it, that is what kept me goign. I weigh my self all the time to keep myself on track and i love to see that new "low" number.

I had to realize that nobody was going to do it for me. And doing it just once, or for a week, or for a month or however long before I quit, wasn't going to work either. That is why I always a yo-yo.

Once I got into my new lifestyle it became a habit. I started to feel better, have more energy, reduced depression, and best of all I was starting to shrink! I didn't want to stop and go back to my old lifestyle. For me, it's a habit, and the promise of a healthier and happier me tomorrow.

When I'm feeling low and wanting to quit, I just think about how far I've come and why I began to get healthy in the first place. I also think about how much better I will feel and look in a month and just keep on trucking along.

that is a great way to think. when i have wanted to quit, i look back and how unhappy i was, what i looked like and where i am now.

I was told in the hospital that I had maybe five more years to live if I didn't change now! I thought about it. My daughter is twelve. In five years she would only be seventeen. She will need me. My husband needs me and I need him. I have nieces and nephews that I adore. I decided that if I want to see them grow up and grow old with my husband then I better get busy. I'm on my way baby!!
  • Actually it was my son who inspired me. I never had weight issues until age 45. Since then, I have tried lots of things and become discouraged and fallen back into my old eating patterns. This summer, after watching my son transform himself with MFP and exercise, I decided to give it a try. His words have been my motivation and they are so simple. He said, "Mom, what difference does it matter how long it takes, you are doing this for life." "Just start."

So I did, and I gave myself permission for the weight loss to occur slowly and with no time limit. It has been wonderful. Logging the foods has helped me realize what I can live without, but also what I don't have to give up. MFP is not a diet for me, it is just a way to put balance in my day. Now I don't feel like I am a slave to food!!

So, good luck on your journey. Give yourself permission to make a life style change.

Thanks everyone! I do think that I have a tendency to set almost unattainable goals, like losing a large amount of weight before a certain event. If I can focus more on healthy choices and less on a short time period, I think I will do better.
