logging breastfeeding and getting enough calories

I feel fine on the amount of calories I am eating but it is way lower than MFP says I should have. BUT I was anorexic for a long time and how I feel may not mean a lot. I am short (5'2") so I think I can get away with not eating as many calories as some people.
Take today as an example... If you don't count my breastfeeding calories I would be at 1334 calories. Counting the breastfeeding I am at 934. But with exercising it says I should have eaten 2500 calories today. UGH!!! Should I not log breastfeeding calories?

I ate 2000 calories and was able to maintain my breastmilk. Breast Milk is about 400 calories burned. 1300 is a little low for breast feeding. I would talk to your doctor if you are attempting to lose weight. What I did was put my BMR and added 400 calories. When I ate the recommended 2600 calories I actually gained weight.
..Go to FreeDieting.com and put in your calculations for a breast feeding mother and you get a more or less accurate eating range. It is important to feed your baby and not starve yourself for the benefit of your little one.

thank you. I will check those both out. I should mention that my baby also eats table foods so he is not totally dependant on breast milk. He nurses between 4 and 6 times a day. When I pump I get about 4 oz from each breast (sometimes more, so I don't think my milk supply is affected by my low calories, although the quality of the milk might be)0

I had to stop nursing because of an infection but logging breast milk is good but if he is getting enough then you should be fine. I feed 8 oz a serving but my baby is only 6 months old and is the size of a 18 month old. Length not weight. He is in the 110% for his height and 90% weight.0

wow!! Mine just turned a year but still wears 6-9 month clothes! My hubby is 5'3" and I am 5'2". As pygmys we don't have very big kids! He is actually the 3rd largest of our 8 at his age. My little peanuts! Good job with your 'little' guy! Start teaching him to play football now!! LOL0 -
it is a common misconception that when baby starts eatting you burn less, its not true actually its about 500 calories a day and too keep your nutrition stores up you need to be eattting these calories and logging them! it isnt just supply that is affected by low calories. for example breastmilk is high in fat and calcium and vitamins... this needs to come from you and the food you eat.0
