INSOMNIA!

Can't sleep...........again. Nobody to talk to. So I thought I would just type away randomly on here. I don't have anything in particular to talk about though. What am I going to do tomorrow? I don't know, fishing maybe. Dang I hope somebody else is up so I will have somebody to chat with. At least for a little while.

Still not that abnormal for me. I'm a bit of a night owl.

So, what's keeping your eyes from closing?

I don't know, just can't seem to get my thoughts to quiet down
  • And they're not even good thoughts. It's crap like, I should've cleaned the stove today. I need to give the dogs a bath tomorrow. I have to go grocery shopping tomorrow. My kids need haircuts tomorrow. Typical things women think about when they go to bed.

I didn't think about that. My youngest does want to get his hair dyed blue.

    I hope it helps!

It would be nice if our brains had off switches.

I have bright pink streaks in my hair, so I'm no help here. I'd be all for the blue.

    Hey, Algunter,

Get out of bed (if you're in bed currently) get a book, sit down at the kitchen table, and read. Or do a Sudoku. Or pay some bills. Whatever. The goal: Get out of bed. 30-60 minutes later, your eyes will start to close on their own.

My $.02: don't do stuff in bed (ie: watch TV, surf the net with an ipad or phone, etc...) and keep the light relatively low. You want your brain to start making Melatonin.

(or pop a Melatonin or sleep aid.)

An active mind is usually your brain saying "we have to do something." Determine if it can be done now or not (pay bills? yes, you CAN do that now. Wash the car? not so much at 2:40am.) If you feel up to it, do the things you CAN, then go to sleep. ACCEPT that there are some things your mind will fret over that are USELESS. For those times, go into bed, stare up at the ceiling, and simply accept that you aren't going to get any sleep. (9 times out of 10, accepting this worry somehow lets you go to sleep, since so much of the stress is simply caused by the fear that you won't get sleep. Yes, it's circular logic, but, it works.)

Finally, if there's something bothering you (itchy tag on pajamas, the house is too warm / cool, etc...) take steps to change that. Cut off the tag. Turn up the AC/heater. Make yourself COMFORTABLE!

    Then, get to sleep. :)

    Gnite! :)

You obviously don't know me very well. I'm the kind of person that ends up outside doing stuff way late, even when it's dark and I can't see what I'm doing, and I'm getting way too cold and I'm starting to get sick...

    Heh.

What do you mean, am I crazy? I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about!
  • I'm not in bed. I hate sudoku, I just finished the trilogy I was reading, I already cleaned my kitchen. Really nothing I can do. And I already laid in the bed staring at the ceiling, but after an hour I decided I would get on the computer for a while.

The first step to healing is admitting you have a problem.
  • Okay then, I'll try it too. Hi, my name is angela and I am an insomniac.
