I don't see my tummy!
I swear I look in the mirror when I dress... I LOVE wearing tighter shirts, I have a nice chest, and a slinky shirt makes me feel great. I LOOK in the mirror, and I think "yeah, I look GOOD...."

Then, someone goes and takes a picture.
Holy moly....what the heck!?

Optical illusion? Power of positive thinking?

I RARELY feel as big as I am.
I'm always suprised.

I totally need a clothes makeover... guide me to what clothes look GOOD on me, and don't make me feel like I'm in a bag.

I totally LOL'd on this one! I obviously have the same problem....I know I'm fat but I don't think I'm as fat as I am! Going back a couple of years I was on vacation with my then boyfriend. We went to Key West and were on a sunset cruise. We happened to be on a boat where a couple was getting married. The JoP was hounding us to get married and we declined each and every time. I couldn't figure out why he kept asking us over and over until we looked at our vacation photos and I looked 6 months pregnant!!!!!! OMG no wonder he thought we should get married!!!!

Good luck to both of us :drinker:

I have the same problem, lol. And my stomach is so much closer to being flat than it was even a few months ago, but man, the camera just kills me. Hence one the reasons I'm getting really serious about working out, finally. :)

I'm beginning to think I have magic mirrors.
When I look in them, I can see the weight loss. I take pictures in the mirrors and think I look good.
Then later that day if someone takes a picture of me, its like 'what the heck?!?! did I lose any weight at all? I look exactly the same!'
Not always.. sometimes I can see the difference. But its never as good as it is in my magic mirrors.
  • My mother told me that she read somewhere that we can't truly "see" ourselves in a mirror for some reason. For some reason, our brains can't register it and give us a distorted view, or something. I forgot the whole scientific mumbo jumbo reasoning she used. But she said to truly see ourselves, we must see ourselves in a picture or video because that is how the rest of the world sees us, or something. I don't know, but I'm going to research this further because I have the exact same problem! I guess maybe it's good sometimes, though, or maybe I would never leave the house. Lol.

Yup ... I wear the same pants I wore 63 pounds ago. Why??? Because when I see myself I don't see any difference in my size or weight ... But when I put on my clothes and they are falling off of me. I can see the difference.

I too am always shocked when a see a photo of me. I think I am the thinner version of me...and at least now I can say to myself that the thinner me is going to show up sometime as FINALLY I have found the support I need to stay on track to a healthier me.

    I know the feeling!

Sometimes I go as far as to have someone take a photo of me in an outfit before I go out in it. You should ask some female friends to go shopping with you, if you can :)

I had this problem when shopping for wedding dresses. I'd look at one hanging on the rack and think "That looks my size". Turns out, they were always too small....
  • I did not realise how big i was until i saw a pic on my daughters bday. i was disgusted.

Don't forget that they say "The camera adds 10 lbs!" This is why celebs are often underweight, but look "normal" on TV.
