What is the point of high protein diet?

Options
Hello everyone,

I eat a high protein diet (about 110g) because of how many people recommend it on here. But I am not sure why I do it!
It is to protect muscles? Even though I only work out 3 days a week?
Why do we need high protein on the days we don't work out?
Just interested in the science behind it :)

I have been trying to increase my protein (100-130, less on non-working out days)-- to feed my muscles (instead of my bodt eating my muscles in earch of protein after a workout).. to keep me satiated (more protein seems to help me to not feel hungry as often)..
and, personally, it seems to help regulate my blood sugar. I have hypoglycemic tendancies and keeping the protein coming in throughthe day seems to help.

Not sure the actual science-y explanation.

I am on a low calorie, high protein diet (yes supervised by a doctor) and I find that I have a lot more energy.

With everything that I have read and been told I don't actually consider myself on a high protein diet. I just try to stick to fruit and vegetable carbs and stay away from what I like to call "insulin inducing" carbs. With so few carbs I have to eat my calories from somewhere and just choose to eat protein.
