Pregnant, Trying to Eat Healthy and Exercise?

... Or at least trying to?

I've been using myfitnesspal for the past two years, and decided to continue using it after I found out I was pregnant. The settings were hard to figure out, as far as what I should change my goals to, but after talking to my Doctor I decided that I would set it to weight gain (as I should be gaining 25-30lbs by the end).

So far its been working well because I'm exercising 5x a week and eating healthy - for the most part. I also set my food diary to public, so that I can have accountability with keeping my goals. :)

Anyone else on here pregnant and still exercising? If you are, what kind of exercises are you doing? Right now I'm doing a lot of calisthenics, yoga, pilates and walking. I just reached the 6 months pregnant mark and have gained 12 lbs so far, and am feeling really good. I also have LOTS of energy, which I love. lol

Yup! And good for you :) I've been working out for 5 yrs now and using MFP for I think 2 or 3, like you. I think the best thing to do when your pregnant in terms of health and nutrition is to keep on maintaining your food and fitness-conscious lifestyle. I used to aim my calories at 1500-1700 a day, so now I'm aiming for an even 2000 calories. I don't eat my workout calories, just because it feels like too much after eating 2000! How far along are you? I'm glad to know there's another fit future-mama on mfp!

I'm sitting at about 10 pounds over the last 2-3 months. I had just gotten serious about losing when I found out I was pregnant, and didn't find out until I had already hit my 2nd Trimester, so I lost weight all through my 1st.

I have mine set at maintenance, which is just under 1900 for me at my current weight. I go in again on Wednesday to get weighed and will talk to her about it then. I am now almost to the 3rd Trimester.

I track calories for 3 reasons. 1. To make sure I'm eating enough, which is usually not a problem. 2. To track what I'm eating and spot any trends or cravings and act accordingly. 3. To establish the habit now so I won't completely fall off the wagon like I did with my last child. If I make it a habit to log, likelyhood is, I'll continue that trend after I have her.

I track my exercise as well, and generally eat back most of them. i don't feel like I've gained much additional weight besides the baby, which is good. I also generally feel good, although I've been a bit tired lately.

I gained 100 lbs with my daughter. Yes, 100. She's 15 now and I'm and JUST NOW getting down to what I was before then.

This was before I understood what gaining and losing weight meant.

I've wrecked my body and it will never be back to what it was. I am so glad to hear you are responsibly eating with mfp. I think that will make you a success!!

(And just for info, I weighed 195 when I got pregnant and 295 when I was 9 mo. You can see my ticker is just now down to 192...because of my carelessness, I've been obese during my 20's and early 30's.)

You should add me! :) I don't have any friends on here that are preggo and still exercising. XD I'm a little over 6 months pregnant right now. :)

I used to not eat exercised calories back, but I started losing weight (and I'm not big as it is... 5'3'' and 139lbs at 6 months), as I'm burning a ton of calories at work everyday. I'm a barista at Starbucks - constantly making drinks, wiping up spills, cleaning equipment/work spaces, moving here and there etc... so by the time I get off work and exercise, I've burned about 800-1000 calories on a given work day... So I talked to my Dr. and she said I needed to eat more to make sure I'm getting the nutrition that I need. I started eating about 200-400 calories back, which puts me at about 2000-2200 calories a day, during the week. I still feel really healthy and have a lot of energy. :) For a while I was feeling really tired (before I upped my calorie intake), but it seems that that was due to not eating enough. Because I'm feeling really good again. :D

i exercisied right up to my 39 wk, i ran til i felt uncomfy, i included weight training and walking till my 39 wk up to 4 days a wk, i even attended the gym for my cardio and weights, i proberly looked like a huge *kitten* watermelon but i gave it my all. i still gained 40 + pounds but lost half of that at 4 wks pp. Im now nearly 12 wks pp and feeling great a little extra weight on me but you know what im ok and im working harder to lose at least another 4 kilo, id be happy with that:) ill be 5 kilo away from my pp weight then. ill worry about those last kilo later) I did not go too crazy with my eating i actually relaxed it a little while pregnant, i ate around 2000 - 2500 cal a day.

Good for you! I kind of gave up during pregnancy, and now I regret it. I gained 45 pounds each time (a lot on my tiny frame, started out 115 pounds at 5'2" before), and my stomach will never look the same. I just figured "no big deal, I'll lose the weight later" - but I didn't think about the extra skin I'd have from it suddenly stretching out so much! I think if I'd kept it to more like 25-30 pounds it would have made a big difference. I bet you'll enjoy your newborn so much too since you are staying active and healthy - you'll have more energy than most.
