Logging workouts-and what to use as your fitness activity

When you are logging in your profile to see how many calories you should eat, do you log in how many workouts you expect to do? Or just use sedentary and than actually log in your workouts and eat those calories back?

I prefer to log workouts separately because I like to eat back exercise calories.
Do be careful with the burn rates in MFP. Some activities look inflated. For example the elliptic cross trainer is listed on MFP at almost double what the actual machine at the gym says. Maybe MPF just assumes I am going much faster and at a very high resistance setting.0 -

You can't really go by the machine either. Best bet is to use an HRM. I like to log anything I actually do. I'm pretty sedentary otherwise.0 -
I say I'm slightly active. I only log gym/DVD exercise. I don't log cleaning, walking to the park or any other small stuff.
I generally find that I burn 8-10 Cal/min if I'm giving it my best effort. Therefore my maximum for an hour is 600 calories.0 -
I log the workout after I do it.
If you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.....

I log my exercise and eat back the calories. I use HRM and machine readings instead of what MFP has because all that exercise data was entered by users and it is not always correct for my weight/age. I also think that my HRM is overestimating so I usually log less then it shows, to not overheat.0

I guess what I'm thinking is at 234 pounds, you'd think I could eat more than 1200 calories and lose weight. At the moment I have down that I'm sedentary and logging my workouts, then eating those calories back if I find I'm hungry. I"m just wondering if I should put down that I'm lightly active instead, and still be able to lose weight on more calorie intake. I'm not sedentary. I do have a desk job, but I workout 3-4 times a week. If I chose a higher activity level, should I still log my workouts?0

I try to make it as simple as possible. I have a desk job, so I set my lifestyle as sedentary and add all exercise calories. Sometimes if I run out of calories and am still hungry I workout to be able to eat more. It works for me because it makes me exercise more than I would normally do. You can set your lifestyle as active but then you will have to keep the exercise level that you entered in your profile. Try it . Everybody is different. There is no magic formula that will work for everybody.0

I am 5'4 and started at 246. I couldn't hack the 1200 at first so I manually adjusted my totals to 135 a day and generally eat back my calories from exercise. I do use a HRM for estimating my calories burned instead of the MFP calories burned most of the time.0

Hi i log my workouts after I have been to the gym, and use the machines reading instead of MFP and I use other sites to work out my other activities such as walking. I sometimes eat my calories back, but only do that when I am hungry,0
