Hungry all the time!

Hi! I have 10 or so pounds to loose and I find it very difficult to stay under 1200 calories. I work out at the gym 3x a week and I jog on the treadmill. I usually have one egg for breakfast and 1/4 c brown rice with veggies for snack, then a very small lunch and dinner. My tummy is growling all the time and I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or has figured out what to eat that helps the hunger.

What is wrong about eating below 1200 calories? Isn't less calories in better b/c you less is converted to fat? I'm new at this so please inform me.0

1200 doesn't seem like may calories based on how active you are. You might want to recalculate how many you are allowed. What is your time frame on losing the weight? I'm still new to this eating healthy thing myself so I probably don't have the best suggestions for foods, but eating 5-6 times a day would help. I have a moderate breakfast since that is my busy time(8a), 100cal snack at 10a, lunch at noon, 100 cal snack at 3p, dinner @ 6p then a light snack around 8 after I put the kids to bed and I'm winding down for the night. I tried just the 3 meals a day and I had your same problem. Maybe adjust your calorie intake and try to find low cal high protein foods that will stick with you longer. Try oatmeal with crasins for breakfast. Not to bad on calories but will stay with you longer than an egg alone. Anywho, hope something in there was helpful!0

Hi I have the same problem I always feel hungry too. I just try to eat things like carrot sticks that are low in calories but I can kind of "graze" on. 1200 calories does sound extremely low make sure your getting enough to eat.:smile0

sounds like your metabolism is boosting from the exercise....just have some low cal snacks0

Its a tight rope walk on calories. If you body doesn't think it is getting enough it will go into storage mode, which isn't good. So you need to eat just short of what you need. Judging by how active the person is, 1200 doesn't seem like enough. I did the calculator on here and I was alotted 1500. It really does depend on the person stats and activity level. My activity level is a bit lower than OP so I'm guessing their intake should be higher. That is all a guessimate of course without details.0 -
Well if you are logging your exercise, and actually eating the calories you earned from exercise then Im pretty stumped. But I think your problem is that you are eating as if you haven't been exercising, you think that your eating under 1200 calories and thats great. But in reality, depending on how much you exercise, your net calories could be half of that, and thats probably why you are always feeling the need to eat. I would suggest tracking your exercise if youre not, and if you are, maybe try having some small healthy snacks in between meals so that you dont over indulge when it comes to be meal time.0

below 1200 cals a day is like starving yourself especially on the days that you run. You need the calories to use as fuel to burn. If you restrict yourself under 1200 daily then you are going to be hungry all the time. Add more lean protein in there to help keep you fuller longer and load up on veggies when you are snacking. You can never eat too many veggies. But trust me, I have done the phase of eating 900 or less a day and you will regret it later because your systems will start to shut down and your body will take the energy that is need to function from your muscles, NOT from our fat as we like to think. LOL, I was about to post this link as well. People really need to read the posts for newbies.0 -
sometimes it helps to add more protein to your diet especially if you're working out a lot. for breakfast i eat a Jimmy Dean D-Lite bagel, turkey sausage, egg white and cheese. it's pretty low in cals and it has 18g of protein. it really stays with me in the mornings and i'm not so hungry before lunch.0
