Best Walking Shoes for Winter Weather

Okay, I may be getting a little ahead of myself here but I live in Michigan and while I was out walking today in the cold 50 degree weather with gloves on my hands and a knit headband around my ears I was thinking. What am I gonna wear on my feet to go walking this winter. I don't want to stay inside and exercise all winter because I have a good momentum going here and I don't want to lose it in fear that I will gain some weight back. So for anyone that walks in the Northern part of the USA (or anywhere where it snows) in the winter could you please give me some suggestions on good shoes to wear outside in the snow. Thanks.

    I am in PA and I usually wear Merrill hiking boots in the winter with a nice heavy sock.
