I just need skme clarity on the topic of starvation mode.. its when your body does what?? And ive also heard if people
Having ketones in their urine when they start dieting... any relation?

I am just curious if im not losing any weight because maybe 1) 1360 cals isnt enough for my body ( 5'5 135 ) ????
Or 2) i dont eat my exercise cals back???

I used to eat so badly.. 3000++ cals a day of fast foods and sweets and i have now totally turned my diet around
And started a great exercise program and i am not losing anything... its been 2 months andim always within
My calorie goal..... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG :(

I want to give up... if i can maintainmy weight eating mass amounts of crappy foods.. why am i even trying!!

It's perfectly normal for ketones to be in your urine when you start a diet because you are literally changing the chemical makeup of your body, and it needs to adjust. With your previous diet of fatty and sugary foods, your ketone count is probably pretty high. However, that will pass, when your body adjusts.

You are also probably in starvation mode. In layman's terms, that's when your body goes into a panic because it's suddenly not getting the same amount of the same kind of nutrients that it had been getting. Chemical levels change, which causes the body to try to store as much of the "missing" nutrients as possible. It usually lasts a couple of months, and can be helped by your diet.

For example, since you had the fatty and sugary foods, try eating healthy foods that are high in fat and sugar content. It sounds a little wonky, but it should help to kick start your weight loss. Some examples would be orange and yellow fruits and vegetables, avocados, small portions of red meat, and nuts. Increasing the amount of healthy fats and sugars you eat will trick your body into thinking it's ok to let go of what it's been storing.

Another thought is... well... Are you just measuring weight? The scale lies. Horribly. Really, ignore the fact that it exists for a week or two. Instead, take a picture of yourself. Not sucking in the gut or anything, but just a normal picture. An honest one. In your underwear. Keep it to yourself if you need to, but keep it. Then keep up with your diet and exercise, and instead of focusing on your weight, focus on how well your clothes fit. You should start feeling a change. In a couple of weeks, a month, somewhere in there, take another picture. Put it up side by side with the first one. You should see a difference.
