Hey guys,
So yesterday I woke up with a sore throat, which became swollen as the day progressed. Well, this morning I woke up feeling sooo sick (stuffy, runny nose, sore, swollen throat, sore ears). My question is: since I'm not healthy enough to go for a workout, should I be cutting my calories back even more? Should I be cutting them at all, or eating as much as I have been (which has been very, very good)?

It depends on how you set your goals. If you let MFP do it for you then you're safe to go ahead and eat what you daily goal is b/c MFP factors weight loss with no exercise added in. The calories it gives you includes the deficit you need to lose weight.0

Usually I just eat my calories for the day. I don't cut back unless I feel to yuck to eat. Don't worry about exercise if you feel really yucky. If your worried about gaining when your sick, eat soup. Good way to feed your body what it probably needs and will be low calorie0

If you stick with your regular calorie goal, you should be fine. You don't need to eat less because your calorie goal is the same whether you workout or not.
I am not hungry when I'm sick so I have a hard time reaching my calorie goal, I usually need to eat high calorie stuff to reach my goal.
My husband ignores his calorie goal when he's sick and eats pretty much what he wants. He figured that if he's sick, he needs to make sure he's getting all the nutrients he can to build his immune system and fight the illness.
So, stick to your regular calorie goal and you should be fine.0 -
Lots of great advice, thanks guys!
Yeah, the weight gain was what I was concerned about, but I guess there are more important things to worry about - like getting better!
As for my appetite, it really depends. Like, today is Thanksgiving in Canada and I'm really looking forward to turkey and pie, but yesterday I couldn't even think of food without feeling icky :S0
