I haven't personally owned a scale in...well, I've never owned a scale. However, I've been seeing a lot of people talking about seeing their BF% and muscle mass on their scale. Does anyone have a recommended scale for this?

I use a Weight Watchers scale I bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond. These types of scales certainly aren't accurate, but mine has been relatively good for a reference. If my BF% is 17 one month and 19 a few months later, I can generally figure I'm not doing something right. I never trust that the number is right, but I always trust it's a good reference.

I do realize that it won't be 100% accurate. I'm more interested in using it as a guide to make sure I'm not in too much of a calorie deficit, thus hindering my ability to gain muscle mass.

If you want just a reference to go by I say use them but if you're wanting a more accurate representation of your BF they are not to be trusted. Handhelds, weight scales and online calculators are highly inaccurate. Callipers, Bod Pod and Hydrostatic Testing as well as Dexa are really the most reliable ways to have it tested.
