Some days I'm on top Some days I'm not :(

Question:
Does anyone else feel that somedays you get your calories just right with exercising and somedays you just completley go over or are really far under your calorie expectations?
For instance Saturday night I went over my calories by about 300 because I went out with some friends. Thought to myself I can make it up tomorrow. So, Sunday I ate smart and burned quite a few calories and came almost 500 under my calorie goal. Today, I don't really know what I am going to have for dinner yet(going to a friends for dinner) So I am eating smart for breakfast and lunch. I have roughly 800 calories left for dinner and I know I am not going to finish all 800 cals.
I am just not sure if this will affect my weightloss. My starting weight was technically 231 but I didn't put that on my tracker because when I technically started MFP a few years ago I was 215 and then rejoined a few months ago at 225 but am focused on staying on track this time and in the month Ive been logging I have lost 6lbs and am down to 225 again.
Does anyone else feel confused somedays and not sure whats right and wrong even when it feels right?

sometimes I get a bit lost in it all, but my journey started a few years ago and although I am still nearly a 100lbs lighter than I was at the start, I only kinda came back to it a couple of months ago, I know how to do it in theory but sometimes applying it gets lost in the bustle and aggro of life...I think its about focus rather than understanding!0

Thanks, and yes I am fully focused this time. I have a friend who recently lost almost 80 pounds and she looks great. We actually started working out at the same time but I fell off the wagon and she didn't so that was my wake up call that the excuses had to end. I defintely am much more focused this time than any other time before!0

For me if I get a bit out of step with it, I just keep on going, I fell off the wagon big time, at the halfway point, I am determined this time to make it no matter how long it takes and how many little slips I make.. I am 41 I want to get to 43 on target, but if I dont make it then I want to be darn close, I think you have to set a focus point so you keep driving there rather than meandering, which is what I do....I want to be 10lbs lighter than I am now by the 30th of nov as I have a really heavy weekend then so I know things will go a bit sideways..so thats my next point on the map!0
