Anyone playing Hockey? (or any team sport for that matter!)

So, I play Ice Hockey and as probably most of you know it's a very demanding sport. I have a difficulty of placing my meals during the day between games, practices and rest time.

For anyone who's doing any team sports, how do you eat during a day when there is practice/games? I can't decide wether to eat dinner before, or after, because usually when I do sports I try not to eat afterwards... However, if i eat before practice, it really effects the way i can perform! Also during days with early morning practices, breakfast is difficult to fit in.

Also, I know this highly depends on what foods you eat. I have no idea what foods are the best taking into account that hockey takes a lot of physical energy and can get really tough on your body. What foods should i eat so that i don't have to skip any meals due to practices or games, but doesn't fill me up so much that i'm about to throw up on ice?

If anyone has any great tips i'd appreciate them a lot!
