Low acid dieting?

Hey, everyone!

I don't post a lot - I mainly use the app for my calorie counting - but I need some help here. I need to go on a low acid diet. I have gastritis right now, and I noticed that a lot of my foods have some acidic content. It isn't helping me; in fact, I'm having quite a bit of stomach issues and I have a feeling the excess acid from both my food and my gastritis is the culprit. Problem is, everything I look up on the internet is contradicting itself. Some websites say that olive oil is good, vegetable oil is bad, and you can't have things like quinoa (which I'm dying to try), and dairy is out. But then another website says that vegetable oil is good, olive oil is bad, and quinoa is fine to eat.

I need solid answers. I need to figure out how I'm going to fix myself - it's now a health concern for more than just losing weight - and I'm not sure where to go. Do I just stick with a keto diet? Do I cut out everything and just eat bland food? It seems everything has some acidic content, even tea! I just want my stomach issues to go away; I'm missing classes and work because I'm just laying on the couch ready to run to the bathroom.

Advice? Thanks in advance!

It sounds to me like you need some professional advice on this. Talk to your doctor and maybe a dietician as well. As you've already discovered, advice from the internet isn't that reliable...

.....and advice from this forum is even worse....try asking if you should eat your exercise calories here...

But, seriously, a doctor who is well versed in these types of disorders would be your best bet. Call a Gastroenterologist. They will have a list of appropriate foods. Or a registered Dietician.

There must be accurate info on a medical type site..like WebMD, MayoClinic, NIH etc.
