Girdle/Abdominal Binder anyone?

I'm looking for people who have worn a girdle or abdominal binder to increase their stomach firmness, and/or decrease their waist circumference. I know they make them for post-surgery, but I've never had surgery or even a baby for that matter, and my stomach is just fat, fat, fat.

I practice sticking in my stomach when I watch TV (especially when I see how tiny Brooke Burke's waist is), but wondering if anyone has had any real success shrinking your waist using one of these.

I'm not looking for a quick fix gimmick, but I was hoping if something helped keep my stomach tightened would I eventually be toning/shrinking this area.

My guess would be yes, like Japanese foot binding. My mom's side is Asian and I remember them tying a rope around my little cousin's waist when she was a baby to make sure she "had a good waist line." But then again, these are the same people that massaged our gums to provide for straight teeth, and would cut our hair and eyelashes off when we were babies to produce thicker, lustrous hair LOL

Binders or girdles only make your stomach LESS taut. They take over the job of your abdominal muscles so the muscles don't work and get flabby. The only thing they are good for is holding in lots of loose skin after a big weight loss or lots of babies.

I am currently wearing one post hernia repair for the express reason of not working the muscles so my tummy can heal. When I take it off and do simple chores my muscles hurt since they are having to work again. Do not use one if you want a flat tummy!

The hair shaving is still pretty common in many hispanic cultures actually....I was at the salon one day when a lil girl was brought in to have her hair buzzed

As for the OP's question....besides wearing the occasional spanx....no
