Maxitone Shakes

Hi,
I started taking the Maxitone Sculptress shake as I had heard it helped tone you up and lose a few pounds. I am not over weight but I have put on about 11 lbs in the last year and cant seem to shake it.
I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and run a fair bit, OK I do indulge at the weekend but not to the point where I think it should be cancelling out my hard work I do during the week. Anyway I started the shakes approx 3 weeks ago and have been taking them as a breakfast replacement then I have approx 100g of Chicken breast mid morning, protein shake for lunch and either turkey or yoghurt or somethingsimilar mid afternoon before having a healthy supper (i.e stir fry) butI dont seem to be shifting any weight at all.
Basically my questions is, is it possible the shakes have added bulk to my body i.e why the scales say I'm the same if not 1 or 2 pounds heavier than before?

A weight loss shake will only be effective if it allows you or helps you to eat in a caloric deficit over time. There's nothing in the actual shake itself that will contribute to weight loss -- but if you drink a shake that totals 210kcal instead of eating a breakfast that has 600 kcal in it, you're essentially "saving" calories and provided you don't overeat later in the day, it can be an effective means to create an energy deficit.
I think there's better methods for long-term compliance, but this is how they work and it's a good thing to know.I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and run a fair bit, OK I do indulge at the weekend but not to the point where I think it should be cancelling out my hard work I do during the week. My recommendation would be to get a food scale, start weighing and measuring food intake, and record EVERYTHING. Do this for a few weeks and compare your intake to your results. You'll then have a very solid data set to make conclusions about, and you can then adjust intake from there.Basically my questions is, is it possible the shakes have added bulk to my body i.e why the scales say I'm the same if not 1 or 2 pounds heavier than before?
If you added shakes to your diet without removing other food then it's possible, but still not likely. It's either bloat, inconsistent weighing, or inaccurate tracking.
I can't say for certain as this is just one guy's opinion on the internet, but I doubt it's the shake causing you to gain weight.
In closing, 210kcal for 15g protein is not a very good ratio for a supplement.0 -
I use the maxitone definity shakes but I add Greek yogurt to mine to bump up protein as I don't like Greek yogurt on its own.0

Thanks for that.
I decided to stop taking the Shake for this week to see if it made a difference and just use MFP to log everything I am eating, so I will see if this makes a difference on the scales.
I was also wondering, I have upped my weight training. Previously I only did cardio with minimal weight/resistance training, do you think this will have an effect my weight?0 -

Yes, you'll increase fluid retention shortly after you start weight training. This is probably what's going on.0 -

It is possible - as my clothes etc still fit, even though I have put on weight.0
